Depression & Anxiety

I understand the struggles that come with depression and anxiety. If you're here, you're taking the courageous step of seeking help, and I applaud you for it. Mental health issues don't discriminate, impacting people across all walks of life, including those of you in your 20s and 30s managing high-pressure life and work environments.

My approach to treating depression and anxiety is rooted in empathy, understanding, and professional expertise. I believe everyone's mental health journey is unique and therefore, so should be their therapeutic approach. My approach integrates several modalities, including Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), and Mindfulness-based therapies.

CBT is a powerful therapy model that focuses on the relationship between thoughts, feelings, and behaviors. It helps you recognize patterns of negative thinking and learn how to reframe these thoughts into more positive, constructive ones. I use CBT to empower you with the tools to overcome the adverse effects of anxiety and depression, encouraging resilience and self-efficacy.

ACT is another form of cognitive-behavioral therapy that encourages acceptance of thoughts and feelings rather than fighting or avoiding them. By practicing ACT, you can cultivate psychological flexibility - the ability to stay in the present moment and take steps towards your values, even when you're feeling anxious or depressed.

Mindfulness-based therapies, such as Mindfulness-Based Cognitive Therapy (MBCT) or Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction (MBSR), are also powerful tools that I integrate into my practice. They teach you to focus on the present moment, accept it without judgment, and let go of the negative thoughts that can fuel depression and anxiety.

You may be a working professional balancing multiple roles and responsibilities. I acknowledge the unique stressors you face. My approach is designed to fit seamlessly into your busy life, providing you with practical tools and techniques that you can apply even in the most stressful situations.

I'm passionate about creating an inclusive and safe space for all individuals, particularly those in the LGBTQ+ community. As an LGBTQ+ allied therapist, I have a deep understanding of the unique challenges faced by this community, such as discrimination and societal pressure, which can exacerbate mental health issues. My goal is to offer you a welcoming, affirming environment where your identity is respected and valued. I use an intersectional lens in my therapy, recognizing that your sexual orientation, gender identity, and other aspects of your identity significantly impact your mental health experiences.

Depression and anxiety are not just disorders. They are messages, signals, and signposts pointing towards areas of our lives that need attention and care. It can be a challenging journey, but remember, you're not alone. With the right therapeutic support, you can navigate your path, building resilience, embracing self-compassion, and discovering your unique strengths.

In this safe and compassionate therapeutic relationship, we can work together to face your challenges, nurture your mental health, and guide you towards a more fulfilling, balanced life. It's essential to remember that seeking help is not a sign of weakness, but rather an act of courage. If you're ready to take the next step, I am here to walk this path with you, at your pace, with your goals leading the way.
