Tweens & Teens

As a dedicated therapist with a focus on the mental health of tweens and teens, I understand the unique challenges that your child may be facing, particularly if they identify as queer or BIPOC. Your child's courage to seek support is admirable, and I'm here to reassure you both that you're not alone on this journey. I stand ready to provide support and guidance every step of the way.

I am fluent in both English and Spanish, which is about more than communication - it's about fostering an environment where your child can express themselves fully and authentically in the language they feel most comfortable.

My approach to therapy is as diverse as the young clients I serve, incorporating recognized psychological therapies such as Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), and Intersectional Psychotherapy.

CBT focuses on the interplay of thoughts, feelings, and behaviors, providing tools to recognize and reframe negative thinking patterns, offering your child a path to better cope with anxiety or depression. With ACT, we work on accepting, rather than avoiding, thoughts and feelings. This promotes psychological flexibility, helping your child stay present and make value-aligned decisions, even in the face of emotional distress.

Intersectional Psychotherapy acknowledges the intersections of your child's identities, such as being BIPOC, queer, and a teenager. By exploring the societal impacts on their mental health, we can validate their experiences and initiate a healing process.

In this supportive and affirming space, your child's identities are not just accepted, but celebrated. I understand the unique stressors they may face, including societal bias, discrimination, and peer pressure, and I'm here to help them navigate these challenges.

We can work together to develop practical strategies for managing anxiety, depression, and stress, which they can carry into their everyday life. In this safe and nonjudgmental space, we'll confront challenges head-on, fostering your child's mental health and guiding them towards a balanced and fulfilling life.

Seeking help is an act of self-advocacy and self-love. Whether your child is just starting this journey or is seeking additional support, I am here. We can work together to build a future where they feel empowered, understood, and resilient.

Remember, it's okay not to be okay. Your child's mental health matters. They matter. Support is available. I am honored to join both you and your child on this journey, and look forward to working with you.
